tissue joke

Heard a cute joke today.

How do you make a tissue dance?
"Put a little boogie into it."

don't drop your soap...

Dropping your soap in the hotel tub is never a good thing. I know it's soap but no matter how much I try and scratch off the top layer it doesn't seem to be enough...

ebola

Ebola... Not like I need another reason to back up being germ aware!!

hand car washes

I had forgotten how much I don't like car wash places. I think it gets the job done but when I watch people inside my car touching everything, all I want to do is clean it again with chlorox wipes.

the value of hand washing

While waiting in line for the bathroom I observed a parent to let her child leave the restroom without washing her hands. Then she pretended to call out after her child to wash her hands as they both walked out. Teaching a child how to wash hands properly has to instilled at am early age.

mua

It was a painful experience to have the makeup artist use her own makeup on my face.

potluck violation

I should avoid potlucks or shared food like the plague. Someone always has to ruin it. Why would you rip apart a bagel and leave half on the tray? If you must eat only half, why not cut the bagel in half with clean unused knife and fork?

nail shops

Hard to say if employees wash their hands in between clients at nail shops. For my sake I hope they do because I don't want someone else's feet stuff all over my hands.

dirty fountains

I see water fountains in a different light now. Here is a report from a news station: 2 investigates dirty fountain dangers. Feces, urine, drug needles.. I'll never see water fountains in the way.

hot weather

Hot weather brings wonderful things and not so wonderful things like:
-lots of bugs, especially green ones that fly everywhere and get all over your hair as well as
-open-toed shoes and the persistent stench of smelly feet from everyone around me in public spaces. Trainings are a terrible place for this to occur, sitting around the same people for hours and the smell never goes away.

bambu

My first time at this drink place, and I approve of and appreciate these individually wrapped straws. Shout out for them!

body odor

Restaurants should have smell detectors and not allow people with really loud body odor to enter. It is so uncomfortable to eat dinner when someone at the next table is swimming in body odor. Do people really lack that kind of self awareness?

saliva-ridden papers

Why must people lick their fingers when they separate sheets of paper and then pass them to me? I don't want saliva-infested papers.

water fountains

I'd rather go thirsty than drink water from a public water fountain. Some people drink water from fountains inappropriately or do things in them they shouldn't. Why must people put their whole mouths around the spout?

bathrooms

Ever go into an empty bathroom only to see one toilet's flush not strong enough to flush down all the waste from its previous guest? Even when you try to flush the toilet, the waste still won't disappear completely. So then you use the next stall, which is clean. While you are washing your hands, someone walks in, and you immediately hope she doesn't assume you were the one to leave the funkiness in the dirty toilet but of course she would.

public restroom

Automatic faucet.
Automatic paper towel dispenser.
Manual soap dispenser.
Why.

Well, if one thing has to be manual might as well be that.

can someone explain to me..

I would like to understand why people walk around their house with outdoor shoes.

the cabbie

I enjoy meeting others who are germ aware. I met a self proclaimed germaphobic cab driver. He said he used germ x hand sanitizer after he handled any luggage. He also said he politely called people out on any violations, like sneezing into the air, food service employees who didn't wash their hands and writing corporate office when he observed violations. Well done. He deserved a big tip for his contributions.

dirty menus

A friend went to a restaurant and witnessed a man putting his hand into his pants and scratching from his rear to the front, and then he did something with his menu. Options when dining out:

A. Bring chlorox wipes to clean restaurant menus.
B. Never eat out again.
C. Ask wait staff to read out all menu options so you don't have to touch the menu.

haphephobia

I learned something new today. Haphephobia is the fear of touch. I don't have this phobia, only the fear of dirty hands trying to touch my person or property (food included).

the nail shop

I enjoy getting my nails done but I question the cleanliness of nail shops. Do the employees wash their hands between customers, especially after they've worked on customers' feet? I noticed that they pour any unused acetone back into the bottle. I always ask them not to massage my hand with lotion but she surprised me today. I really hoped that she had washed her hands. I washed my hands with soap and warm water three times before I left the nail shop.

Serving utensils

I wish sets of serving utensils/community chopsticks were etiquette rather than a request.

ice cream store

I watched the man at the ice cream store touch money then immediately touch the waffle cone with his bare hands. He had dirty fingernails and also smelled off cigarettes. I got a scoop in a cup will never go back.

i got sick...

I got take out recently and happened to catch the restaurant staff doing some very unhygienic things. First, the cashier/owner grabbed my credit card, answered the phone and then used her bare hands to put my pot stickers on the grill. I tried to reason with myself that the heat would kill the bacteria. Then, the other chef came to swipe my card and went back to cooking. Did I mention under his fingernails was all black stuff...? I've got flu-like symptoms now. Coincidence?

seat steppers

I really like dislike when people step on seats to get to the row in front or behind them. ... As much as I dislike BART seats.

airport security

People with lice should not be allowed on airplanes. Airport security should include screening for lice among other things.

buffet line etiquette

This hasn't happened to me, and I hope it never will. I would hate to be waiting behind someone actively picking his nose in a buffet line.

flip flops for hotel bathtubs

Happy New Year! Wishing you a happy and healthy 2014 with as few germ violations as possible.

The first thing I got to learn this year is to wear flip flops in hotel bathtubs. I can't believe I haven't been doing that all along. I can't imagine the bathtubs get scrubbed down from guest to guest and who knows what people do in those bathtubs. Be smart and invest in a pair of flip flops specifically for hotel bathtubs. Your feet will love you for that.
